The Rangers completed a trade with the Braves, sending Mark Teixeira back to Atlanta where he played in college at Georgia Tech. Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal is reporting the deal is done, pending a review of the medical records of the players involved, citing major-league sources.
The Braves will receive Teixeira along with veteran left-handed reliever Ron Mahay and the Rangers will get catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Class-A shortstop Elvis Andrus and two pitching prospects.

Jon Daniels pulled the trigger on one of what is expected to be several deals before Tuesday’s trade deadline. Cleveland was the rumored destination for Kenny Lofton, but it was expected Daniels would hold out until just before the deadline passed to get the best deal. However, the Indians made Texas an offer Daniels couldn’t refuse when they traded prospect Max Ramirez to the Rangers for Lofton.
