What do Hall  of Fame baseball player Joe Morgan and the country's newest celebrity football coach, Jerry Moore of Appalachian State, have in common?

Both are members of the Bonham Hall of Fame.

Morgan, announcing ESPN baseball games Sunday nights, was a star of the Big Red Machine with Pete Rose and Johnny Bench.

Moore, a former Baylor football star from the tiny Northeast Texas town, former North Texas and Texas Tech coach has been at Appalchian State since 1989. Moore, of course, is riding AP State's huge win at Michigan on Saturday.

Ready for some football? Garland vs. Allen PDF Print E-mail
by Dave McNabb    Wed, Aug 29, 2007, 03:46 PM

Garland vs. Allen, 4:30 p.m. Saturday Texas Stadium

GameDay Information: The ESPN-FM 103.3 radio game of the week. A pre-game show hosted by Friday Night Gladiators, which broadcasts a live scoreboard show on Friday nights from 10 pm. to midnight on ESPN-FM (103.3) For more information, go to http://www.fridaynightgladiators.com

Allen scouting report: Will become the king of the zone-read  (Vince Young play) with senior quarterback Stephen Payne. He hasn’t played much, but the 6-3, 185-pounder is the same Vince Young-type basketball player on turf. Allen has great receivers, will go empty backfield, with RB Jeremiah Williams catching passes. Allen, along with Tyler Lee, may have the biggest OL in the state. Defense is small, but fast. Junior DT Nate Bonsu is a star in the making.

Garland scouting report: How ya gonna score against these Owls? Defensive front of Casey Walker (Oklahoma commit), Chancey Aghayere and Joel Wilson is as good as the 2001 front that led Mesquite to a Class 5A state title and that’s saying something. Speedy secondary _ Alex Williams, Jacques Caldwell and Jarrett Ben _ won state relay medal in track. Louisville commit Caldwell is a good running back behind an excellent line.

Reunion time: Allen coach Tom Westerberg and Garland coach Jeff Jordan were offensive and defensive coordinator, respectively, on Garland’s 1999 state champ coached by Joe Martin.
