Action Siberia.jpgWhile President Barack Obama voiced his support for friendlier ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin during the presidential debate, the human rights dignity of the all-female punk band, Pussy Riot, appeared to have been terribly violated since they had been imprisoned to serve in Siberian (prison camp) gulags.

According to Russia Today, “two members of the convicted Pussy Riot punk band will serve their prison terms in remote prisons, despite their pleas to stay in the capital. The exact correctional facilities will be revealed as soon as prisoners arrive to their final destinations.”

Defense lawyers had argues that staying near Moscow is necessary since both Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolonnikova have small children. Attorneys claim their health and safety concerns would be better at capital city.

As reported by RT, “penitentiary officials have confirmed the prisoners are in transport, one of the lawyers, Mark Feign said, adding he has not been informed of their exact whereabouts.”

Pussy Riot members were taken into custody after they stormed into the Christ the Savior Cathedral in February and sang profanity-laden ‘punk prayer.

Umm Tom, the Republic of Mordovia is not in Siberia, it is still in European Russia on the Volga River. Siberia is east of the Urals.
