CNN TV news host Anderson Cooper, who suffers from abysmal TV ratings, has learned that igniting controversy can attract a larger audience. Hence, he is feigning outrage that somebody would claim he is a camera hog, just like U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D.-Tx.).
According to ABC News, “on his daytime talk show Thursday, Anderson Cooper said he’s received a mostly-positive response to his coming out of the closet over the summer. But he said he wasn’t happy with the way Star Jones reacted to the news.” Ms. Jones, who appeared on NBC’s ‘Today Show,’ the day after Cooper’s coming out party, hinted that it was a desperate bid on his part to boost ratings of his show. As reported by ABC News, “chatting with co-host Andy Cohen on Anderson Live, Cooper said Jones’ comments annoyed him because ‘if I was wanting to boost ratings I would have waited to announce it on a very special episode, that would have been promoted for weeks and there would have been commercials, Anderson’s huge announcement.’” However, even if Anderson Cooper tried this marketing strategy that would have been no guarantee more people would watch CNN or his TV show.
