Ankarra Kurds.jpgTurkey may soon face the violent grip of the Arab Spring, as Kurdish separatists have embarked on a military campaign to overthrow the Turkish regime, which they contend fails to support human rights and democratic ideals for Kurds and Albanians living in the country.

The BBC News reports that, “Turkey troops killed in Kurdish rebel clashes in Sirnak. Nine members of Turkey’s security forces have been killed in clashes with Kurdish rebels in the south-eastern province of Sirnak, officials say.”

Approximately pro-Democracy and human rights Kurdish militants were also slain near the border with Syria and Iraq, said Gov. Vahdettin Ozkan.

According to the BBC, “the fighting broke out late on Sunday evening and was continuing, he said. Clashes between the army and rebel P – which seeks autonomy for the Kurds – have intensified in the region in the past year.”

Turkish media reported that the PKK attacked a military and police complex in the village of Beytussebap. PKK used guns and rocket launchers.

ethnically, Kurds are not Arabs, so would not want "Arab Spring" applied to name their uprisings. This is particularly the case given that they have suffered severe human rights crimes from Arabs for the precise reason that they are not Arabs.

I agree with Trudy, this issue is nor regarding with Arab Spring or whatever. PKK is a terrorist organisation which is recognised by the US, EU and UN. PKK is killing many civilians, just a week ago has exploded a bomb, killing 13 civilians, including 3 babies aged under 1. Arab Spring is a totally different movement. It is conducted by civilians people against monarchy or dictators. We, as writers, should really understand the circumstances before writing it about.
