Country star Randy Travis may not be singing ‘Forever and Ever Amen’ at a church parking lot in Plano in the near future. For the second time in less than a year, local police officers arrested him near a church.

In the first incident, he was taken into custody for appearing drunk at the church parking lot and in the most recent altercation; he allegedly got into a brawl with a fellow churchgoer.

The Houston Chronicle reports that, “police in suburban Dallas say they’re citing country star Randy Travis for simple assault after he got involved in a couple’s argument.”

David Tilley, Plano police officer, disclosed Friday that a woman and her estranged husband were arguing Thursday evening in a church parking lot. Apparently, Travis knew the woman and got involved with the dispute.

According to the Houston Chronicle, “Tilley says nobody was hurt but Travis and another woman were ticketed for simple assault, a Class CC misdemeanor similar to a parking citation.”

Tilley added, “the officer who was out there as a good officer. His reports are always very thorough. Had there been any concern about alcohol, that would have been noted, or some action would have been taken.”
