From the 1,000-things you should do in your life list:

Go to Prairie View and Grambling at the Cotton Bowl this Saturday night. Get out of your comfort zone.. Watch the battle of bands at halftime and you'll be talking about it for months .. Great, great fun ....

Stephenville at Aledo

7:30 Friday

Two Class 4A state-ranked opponents: The' Ville is No. 2 and Aledo No. 6. It's one school town vs. one-school town. There were about 8,500 last year for one of the year's great games ... Ville won, 28-24, with a 44-yard scoring pass with 8 seconds left.. Aledo rallied from 21-0 to take a 24-21 lead..

Scouting report: Aledo will draw about 10,000 for this matchup. They've lost some marquee players in Texas signees in LB Michael Wilcoxon and OL Kyle Hix, but have exciting game-breakers in QB/WR/RBs Cole Loftin and  Ryan MCGuire, who could line up anywhere and run anything from the spread to the triple option.

The Ville is itching for another state title and has two great players _ quarterback Kody Spano (Oklahoma State commit) and defensive back Cody Davis (Texas Tech). They've got an experienced line and Davis make move to receiver as District 6-4A play begins to add a big-play spark. Running back Brad Mills is solid. Davis is a game-break on defense and returns and sophomore defensive lineman T.R. Varnado (6-0, 270) could be the state's top defensive lineman for 2010.
