Debunking 'Putin Coup' Myth, just Look at Northern Fleet
by Tom McGregor    Mon, Mar 16, 2015, 02:58 AM

Hmm. the Western media has been buzzing big time over rumours that Russian President Vladimir Putin has succumbed to a coup in the Kremlin. Putin aides say that the Russian President is just suffering from the flu. Well, if there was a coup, why would the Russian state-owned media announce Putin's 'executive authority' military orders to place its Northern Fleet on 'Full Alert' to prepare for combat readiness drills? The announcement was officially declared at 8:00 a.m. Moscow-time, Monday March 16.

Sputnik, a Rusian government sponsored news agency, reports that, "MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russian President Vladimir Putin gave the order to bring the country’s Northern Fleet to full alert in a snap combat readiness exercise Monday, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said."

$ 1Aaabafleet.jpgGen. Shoigu is quoted as saying that, "The main task of the [combat readiness drill] is to assess the armed forces from the Northern Fleet’s capabilities in fulfilling tasks in providing military security of the Russian Federation in the Arctic region,”

According to Sputnik,"The Northern Fleet was brought to alert at 8:00 a.m. Moscow time (05:00 GMT) and includes 38,000 military personnel, 3,360 pieces of equipment, 41 ships, 15 submarines, and 110 airplanes and helicopters, Shoigu added."

Only the Russian President, not the Russian military or cabinet officials, have permission to declare 'Full Alert' status for the Northern Fleet. Additionally, the Russian media disclosed that Putin siged the orders for mobilization of the Northern Fleet. If Putin was dethroned, only the appointed Russian President could sign those military documents.
