Swine Flu Hogs into India
by Tom McGregor    Mon, Mar 2, 2015, 12:12 AM

$ 1Aaabaswine.jpgThe Swine Flu has swarmed into India and is causing hundreds of deaths and thousands of infections.

The BBC News reports that, "Health authorities in India have urged people not to panic amid a swine flu outbreak that has killed more than 900 people. At least 15,000 others have tested positive for the virus.  The western state of Gujarat is worst affected with 231 deaths and more than 3,700 infections."

Rajesh Patel, an Indian student, is quoted as saying that, "Hundreds of youngsters gather at this tea stall. We were unsure about whether the police would let us be here, but then we found out that restrictions were only for large events."

According to the BBC News, "Officials in three Gujarat cities - Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar and Rajkot - have announced restrictions on public gatherings to contain swine flu.   The order prohibits gatherings of more than 10 people in an area under a law that has been invoked in the past during times of religious violence, including the 2002 anti-Muslim riots."

The Indian government has called for Indian residents to refrain from attending public events unless out of necessity.
