Houston Hosts Black Panther Party Convention Print E-mail
by Tom McGregor    Sun, Oct 26, 2014, 09:09 PM

The racial agitators of violence group, Black Panther Party, hosted a convention in Houston over the weekend.

The Houston Chronicle reports that, "One of the most notable, sometimes controversial, activist groups in the history of the United States will gather in Houston on Saturday during an event for the national alumni association of the Black Panther Party. Houston Chronicle reporter Cindy George took a deeper look at the Black Panther Party's legacy stemming from its creation in the late 1960s. Bobby Seale, the co-founder and chairman of the group will address its history at the 48th reunion of the alumni association."

In the 1960s, the Black Panther Party called for the violent overthrow of the US government by African-American militants.

According to the Houston Chronicle, "The event will also honor Carl Hampton and Ayanna Adé, two party members rooted in activism and service in the Houston area. Hampton founded what would become the Houston chapter of the Black Panther Party and Adé helped run programs and was a nurse midwife."

Houston activist, Quannell X invited the Black Panther Party to the city.
