BEIJING: Chinese pork supply companies are booming as they can export their products to Russia.
China Radio International reports that, "Two subsidiaries of Henan-based WH Group, the world's largest pork producer, have now been cleared to export their products to Russia. The two Heilongjiang-based plants got the official nod after their production facilities and products were approved by Russia's meat products watchdog last month."
President Barry Obama's 'Sector Sanctions' against Russia have generated closer diplomatic and trade relations between Beijing and Moscow.
According to CRI, "The Russian government has set a target to import meat products from five Chinese suppliers this year after the European Union and US banned such exports to Russia over the Ukraine crisis. WH group, formerly known as Shuanghui Group, acquired US pork producer Smithfield and bought a stake in Campofrio Food of Spain on route to become the world's largest meat processor."
Currently, China has a pork trade deficit.
