Japan Ready to Thaw Ties with China Print E-mail

BEIJING:  Major players in the Japanese business community are visiting China in efforts to reduce tensions between Tokyo and Beijing.

Channel NewsAsia reports that, "A large business delegation left Japan Monday (Sep 22) for China with hopes of being granted an audience with President Xi Jinping as the two countries take baby steps towards patching up tattered relations."

Toyota CEO Fujio Cho is quoted as saying that, "We are requesting meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang, but we've not received a response yet."

According to Channel NewsAsia, "A large business delegation left Japan Monday (Sep 22) for China with hopes of being granted an audience with President Xi Jinping as the two countries take baby steps towards patching up tattered relations."

China has recently imposed large fines on Japanese auto manufacturers.
