Bruce Braley Leans Left of Nancy Pelosi in Congress Print E-mail
by Tom McGregor    Thu, Sep 18, 2014, 12:37 AM

U.S. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D.-Ca.) does not have the most liberal voting record in Congress. U.S. Rep. Bruce Braley (D.-IA.) scored 0 percent as a conservative in 2013, while even Pelosi voted conservative at 8 percent. The American Conservative Union 2013 Report noted that Braley was the only member of Congress to earn a 0 percent ranking.

Braley voted in favor of a Christmas Tree tax, carbon tax and oppossed increases in defense spending and to boost benefits for military veterans.

Peter A. Brown, assistant director of Quinnipiac polling, is quoted as saying that, "There is also a message to President Barack Obama in these numbers. Almost three in 10 voters say theirs is mainly a vote against the president, a troubling number for Democrats. Only 12 percent say they are voting to back the president."

According to NewsMax, "Quinnipiac University handed Iowans a surprise Wednesday with the release of a poll showing that Republican state Sen. Joni Ernst holds a 6-point lead, 50-44 percent, over U.S. Rep. Bruce Braley, a Democrat, in their race to replace five-term Sen. Tom Harkin, 74, who will retire at the end of his term."

Braley is losing popularity in voters' opinion polls in Iowa.
