VA Fires African-American Employee over 'Racial Statement' Print E-mail
by Tom McGregor    Thu, Aug 28, 2014, 11:43 PM

The Veteran Affairs' administration (VA) terminated Sean Higgins contract for an alleged "racial statement." He is African-American and once joked that the VA only fixes air condioners in the offices when white people complain.

The Daily Caller reports that, "Higgins was employed by the Memphis VA Medical Center until recently, and Williams continues to be employed by the facility."

Higgins is quoted as saying that, “You didn’t care when it was a bunch of black people working here — only when white people began working here.”

According to the Daily Caller, "Higgins said he was terminated on Aug. 8 not for creating a hostile work environment, but because he’d made a racial statement in a meeting some months earlier when he complained about a broken air conditioner."

Apparently, U.S. Atorney General Eric Holder has supported the VA for firing Mr. Higgins over his alleged "racial statement."
