BEIJING: An American singer Mark Levine has lived in China for nearly ten years and he has toured the nation singing songs that praise Chairman Mao and the Cultural Revolution. He opposes China's democratic and free market reforms, while singing about the so-called virtues of Marxist propaganda. He's gotten very wealthy as a 'Communist Crooner' and has received numerous awards from the Chinese government, including from the Beijing Communist Youth League.
Beijing Today reports that, "Mark Levine, an American sociologist, has been doing voluntary work for more than 30 years. He was recently honored with the title “Envoy of Cross-cultural Exchanges and the Support of the Youth Development” at the 2013 Cultural Cultivation Season of the Beijing Youth Camp International (BYCI)."
Levine is quoted as saying that, “Chinese youth recognize innovation means not only developing new things but also learning how to keep some traditions or to adapt them to a modern world.”
Mark Levine is dreaming that China return to the horrors of its Cultural Revolution days.
