Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price, a Democrat, is demanding that Texas taxpayers pay him "substantial monetary slavery reparations" to help him pay his legal bills while he's still being investigated by the Federal Bureau of investigation (FBI) on chronic corruption allegations.
According to the Houston Chronicle, "It looked like any other proclaimation, but the "Juneteenth Resolution" was anything but. Tuesday, the Dallas County Commissioners Court unwittingly voted for a resolution backing slavery reparations for African-Americans, ."
John Wiley Prices facces allegations that he scored major bribes and payoffs to shut down a planned railroad hub scheduled for construction in South Dallas that could have provided thousands of jobs for the local African-American community at large.
As reported by the Houston Chronicle, "Written by John Wiley Price, Dallas County's only black commissioner, the document appeared to be just an ordinary call for remembrance in honor of the day Texas slaves learned they were free. But commissioners failed to spot the final paragraph that said the suffering of African-Americans should be "satisfied with monetary and substantial reparations."
The Dallas County Commissioners Court voted in favor of offering Mr. Price his "substantial monetary slavery reparations."
