by Tom McGregor    Sun, Jun 8, 2014, 10:20 PM

BEIJING:  Prime Minister Naharendra Modi of India is seeking better diplomatic and economic relations with China.

The Voice of Russia reports that, "Rival giants India and China appeared Sunday to have got off to a "productive beginning" in resetting their frosty ties after the first-high level meeting since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took charge."

Beijing and New Delhi may soon resolve long-disputed border issues and boost trade ties.

According to the Voice of Russia, "China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi met his Indian counterpart in New Delhi during a two-day visit to build relations with the right-wing Modi government which came to power last month on a pledge to revive the economy."

India could emerge as a global economic superpower.
