During the crucial referendum votes in Eastern Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin had his mind on hockey and hockey on his mind. He even scored hat tricks in both games he played.
According to the Moscow Times, "President Vladimir Putin scored two hat tricks at an NHL gala hockey match in Sochi on Saturday, scoring six goals overall, Interfax reported. The president scored two goals within the opening moments of the game, and later scored two more goals in the second period and an additional pair during the third."
The National Hockey Leaugue is seeking to recruit Putin as an enforcer.
As reported by the Moscow Times, "A local sports commentator praised Putin's performance, saying that any player who could perform like that the whole season would be offered million-dollar contract deals. Playing for the team "Stars of the Night," Putin sported the number 11 on his jersey. The Stars won the game 20 points to five against the opposing amateur team."
