Wisconsin Democrats Declare, 'Tax Cuts are Irresponsible' Print E-mail
by Tom McGregor    Tue, Feb 11, 2014, 06:35 PM

The Wisconsin Democrat Party has just announced their new motto, which is "Tax cuts are irresponsible." Wisconsin Democrats are perceived as trend-setters for the Democrat Party National Committee, and so many believe that while Obama touted the, 'Yes, we can," slogan in 2008, Hillary Clinton could hit the campaign trail in 2016 saying, "Read my lips, no new tax cuts."

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that, "Gov. Scott Walker and Democratic candidate Mary Burke traded political jabs Monday over how to handle Wisconsin's projected $1 billion budget surplus. Burke called Walker's plan for the surplus, including $505 million in tax cuts, "irresponsible" and said it would leave the state "in worse financial shape than we are today."

Ms. Burke is blasting Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, a Republican, for creating a State budget surplus and using the extra funds to lower taxes for Wisconsin residents.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, "Burke said she would use half the projected surplus "to pay down debt and bolster our rainy day fund" and the other half to target property tax relief and boost worker training. "He (Walker) is spending money we don't have," Burke said during a news conference at the offices of Democratic political consultant Thad Nation, a former aide to Gov. Jim Doyle."

Gov. Walker is quoted as saying that, "If I came out and said the sky was blue today, she's going to say it's red. But that's because if you can't win on the facts keep trying to redirect out there."
