So let's talk about that so-called 'Reset on Russia.' President Barack Obama offered Russian President Vladimr Putin an opportunity to utilize US warships and fighter jets during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. However, Putin refused to accept it.
The Moscow Times reports that, "As the U.S. expressed concern over the safety of the upcoming Winter Olympic Games in Sochi and offered to send its own warships to assist in case of a terrorist threat, observers said that cooperation between U.S. and Russian security agencies on the matter is not much more than a formality."
The proposed gift to Putin would have meant that the Russian military could deploy US hi-tech weaponry to fight terrorists and protestors on Russian territory during the Winter Olympic Games.
According to the Moscow Times, "It is in this context that the Pentagon on Monday offered to provide warships in the Black Sea and fighter jets to the Russian authorities if the latter needed them to fight a terrorist threat in Sochi."
Obama even pledged to share sensitive information on adapting US technology to become more compatible with Russian weapons.
