EU to Ban Danish Cinnamon Rolls Print E-mail
by Tom McGregor    Thu, Jan 9, 2014, 06:47 PM

The European Union may favor the legalization of heroin, but they plan to outline a new law that would forbid Europeans from eating Danish cinnamon rolls.

The Houston Chronicle reports that, "Easy on the cinnamon! That advice from Denmark's food authority has rankled pastry chefs whose cinnamon rolls were found to violate the European Union's spice rules."

The EU claims that cinnamon could be harmful to one's health.

According to the Houston Chronicle, "The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration recently discovered that Danish cinnamon rolls and twists contained more coumarin — a chemical compound in the most common variety of cinnamon — than EU rules allow. Excessive intake of coumarin can cause liver damage."

The EU announced that health officials will conduct a sweep of cinnamon rolls next month. Yet, no word on whether bureaucrats will be eating the confiscated goods.
