The Indian government is planning to shut down Black Market activities conducted by U.S. diplomats working in the country. They contend that the US Consulate in Delhi is illegally operating a restaurant cafe on their premises and believe it could be involved in a clandestine money laundering scheme.
According to the BBC News, "India has ordered more reprisals against the US as a diplomatic row continues over last month's arrest of Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade. The US embassy in Delhi has been ordered to stop "commercial activities on its premises" and India said that embassy cars could be penalised for traffic offences, media reports said."
The Indian Supreme Court has also declared gay sex illegal and if a US diplomat engages in such behavior, they could be arrested as well."
As reported by the BBC, "The embassy has been told to shut down a club within its premises which includes a pool, restaurant and tennis court, said on Wednesday. The channel said the club, meant for use by American diplomats and citizens in India, was accepting outsiders in contravention of the Vienna Convention."
The Indian government has also warned that US diplomats could face jail time over unpaid parking tickets as well.
