Malaysia to Slash Public Spending Print E-mail

The Malaysian government is making a New Year's resolution to cut government waste and reduce bloated public expenditures.

China Radio International reports that, "Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak has announced 11 measures to slash public sector expenditure beginning Jan 1, 2014, it is reported here Tuesday."

Kuala Lumpur's will implement major cut backs on so-called "entertainment allowances" for senior government officials.

According to China Radio International, "These measures are in accordance with the government's desire to practise more prudent spending in the new year, he said in a statement issued here Monday."

Malaysia intends to cut spending to maintain a fiscal balance sheet.
