Many Dallas-area Democrats are complaining that Dallas County District Attorney is acting like a 'metrosexual diva,' by engaging in 'machine politics,' so that he and his cronies can ride the wave of 'Big D Bossism."
According to the Dallas Morning News, "Get ready for Boss Watkins. Wary Democrats contend that if District Attorney Craig Watkins’ top assistant is elected chairman of the Dallas County Democratic Party, his boss will be running the show."
DA Watkins has requested is first assistant D.A., Heath Harris, challenge Darlene Ewing over leadership of the local Democrat Party.
As reported by the Dallas Morning News, "They say Watkins is moving to elect judges of his choice, reshaping the criminal court bench with allies, even if it means tossing out respected incumbents. It’s an old-school power grab that would make a political chieftain blush."
Nonetheless, Mr. Harris claims he's not campaigning on the 'bossism,' platform. He is quoted as saying that, "It's not a takeover. It's a way to improve what's already going on in the Democrat Party ... we risk ... losing all the gains we've made and turning over the County to Ted Cruz and the Tea Party."
