According to the Washington Times, "President Obama went hungry Thursday after attending a luncheon meeting with Senate Republicans on Capitol Hill without a designated food taster." Sen. Susan Collins (R.-Me.), who was host of the event, disclosed that the president couldn't touch the food. The Washington Times quotes Sen. Collins as saying that, "unfortunately, you know the president can't. He looked longingly at it. He honestly did look longingly at it, but apparently he has to have essentially a taster, and I pointed out to him that we were all tasters for him, that if the food had been poisoned, all of us would have keeled over, but he did look longingly at it, and he remarked that we have better food than the Democrats do, and I said that was because I was hosting." According to policy discretion, the U.S. Secret Service has always refused to confirm the presence of a "food taster" for the president. President Barack Obama is becoming more like Nixon with each passing day he serves in the White House.
