The front page of the China Daily shows leaders of South American countries paying tribute to the late President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela. In a twist of irony, a crucifex was placed prominently near his coffin. However, an eyewitness has reported that Chavez’s final words before gasping his last breaths were, "I don't want to die." His statement is raising questions over whether or not he saw a vision of hell before his death.
The Guardian reports that, "Hugo Chavez's final words: 'I don't want to die.' Venezuelan president mouthed his desire to live before succumbing to massive heart attack,' general says."
The general added, "he couldn’t speak but he said with his lips … ‘I don’t want to die. Please don’t let me die,' because he loved his country, he sacrificed himself for his country,' General Jose Ornella said.”
According to the Guardian, "the general said he had spent the past two years with Chavez, including his final moments, as Venezuela's president of 14 years battled an unspecified cancer in the pelvic region."
Chavez’s corpse was placed at Venezuela’s military academy.
