The Daily Mail of London reports that, "fuel bills will soar as green targets leave Britain reliant on expensive imported gas, the energy regulator warned yesterday." The chief executive of Ofgem, Alistair Buchanan, also raised concerns about the return of 1970s-style blackout, since 10 percent of coal and oi-fired power production would be shut down next month. According to the Mail, "the chance of large power cuts – those that hit more than a million homes – will 30 times more likely by 2015, he warned." He blames British ministers for banking on low-carbon energy from nuclear power and wind farms that do not supply enough power to keep the lights on.
