Assets Romney.jpgAlthough the Democrat National Convention is being held in Charlotte, North Carolina, GOP nominee for President Mitt Romney is receiving substantially larger sums of campaign cash from Charlotte residents than Obama.

According to Politico, “Romney for President and Romney Victory have raised a combined $1.04 million from Charlotte residents. Obama for America and Obama Victory Fund have raised a combined $360,450 from the Queen City, according to data from CQ Moneyline.”

Romney’s top donors from Charlotte include: Marshall Larsen, CEO and chairman of aerospace manufacturer Goodrich, and Susan Larsen, his wife, have given a combined $58,300.

Other major donors are Kevin Roche, former head of investment banking for Wachovia, Frank Dowd, chairman of Charlotte Pipe and foundry, and Scott Perper of Pamlico Capital, a private equity firm.

As reported by Politico, “the National Republican Congressional Committee and National Republican Senatorial Committee have together raised $577,362, while Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee have together raised a small fraction of that amount - $36,740.”
