Russian Nuke Sub Sails Near US, Says Pravda Print E-mail
by Tom McGregor    Mon, Sep 3, 2012, 08:10 PM
Akula Sub.jpgA Russian nuclear submarine has recently sailed nearby Washington D.C. New York City and Charlotte, North Carolina without being detected by the Pentagon. As if that isn’t bad enough news, Pravda, a State-owned Russian newspaper, disclosed details of the U.S. Navy’s blunder on its English-language Website.

Pravda reports that, “a Russian nuclear submarine of project 971 (‘Jaws,’ in NATO classification), armed with long-range cruise missiles, sailed for a long time without being detected in the waters along the U.S. coastline, the Gulf of Mexico, informs the Washington Free Beacon, citing an unnamed U.S. official.”

The nuke sub held the capability to sink U.S. nuclear submarines of aircraft carriers. A U.S. official said, “the Akula was built for one reason and one reason only: to kill U.S. Navy ballistic missile submarines and their crews.”

As reported by Pravda, “according to this information, the presence of the Russian submarine, off the American coast was confirmed only after the ship had left the region. ‘It’s a silent submarine, able to approach undetected,’ the official said. The Akula-class attack submarine is one of Russia’s quietest submarines.”

Russian nuke submarines have made their way into U.S. territorial waters twice while President Barack Obama is serving as Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces.
