Paul Ryan as GOP VP Pick Energizes Conservatives Print E-mail
by Tom McGregor    Sun, Aug 12, 2012, 04:50 PM
Apple Ryan.jpgMany American voters, especially conservatives, are excited about Mitt Romney’s pick for his running mate, U.S. Representative Paul Ryan (R.-Wi.) on the Republican ticket.

While campaigning for Romney Saturday morning in Iowa, Gov. Rick Perry of Texas, is quoted by the Houston Chronicle as saying that, “the choice of conservative budget hawk Paul Ryan underscores Mitt Romney’s commitment to downsizing Washington, fixing our economy and restoring American job creation.”

Perry added, “Paul Ryan will energize economic voters, young voters and blue collar voters who know President Obama is destroying American jobs and hope for the future. This is an exciting choice that underscores the Republican Party’s commitment to American job creation and fiscal responsibility.”

According to the Houston Chronicle, “Harris County’s political party chairmen were predictable in their reactions.”

Jared Woodfill, the county’s Republican Party chairman, said, “given the facts that this election will be about the economy, I think it was wise for Gov. Romney to pick someone who is clearly very knowledgeable about the numbers and has a vision and plan for getting this economy back on track. Ryan’s youth and energy will help fire up the conservative base, helping the entire Republican ticket win in November.”
