Hilderbran discusses property taxes, local debt, margin tax Print E-mail
by Will Lutz    Fri, Jul 6, 2012, 01:41 PM
State Rep. Harvey Hilderbran, R-Kerrville, granted an interview to Peggy Venable, Texas State Director for Americans for Prosperity. Hilderbran is chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, which has jurisdiction over all tax matters. (The Texas Constitution requires all bills raising revenue originate in the House.) The interview covered the whole gamut of tax policy, from local debt to school finance to property taxes to the state margin tax. Hilderbran discussed these issues before Blogger's Row at the Republican State Convention in Fort Worth.

And Hilderbran also took questions from bloggers. Click here to listen.

They need to look at Italy's proposal, to tax the Catholic church on their commercial properties. This tax could generate over $900 million dollars per year. The Cathoilc church has around 110,000 commercial properties in Italy alone. Can you imagine how many commercial properties that they own in the US?
