Green energy companies would soon utilize a new strategy to force governments to pay subsidies for their companies. They would file lawsuits and demand that government impose alternative energy taxes.
The BBC News reports that, “wind power firms warn they may take the government to court if they get caught in a political row over subsidies.” After conducting technical studies, the British energy department proposed a subsidy reduction of 10% for power from offshore wind. The British chancellor seeks to scrap subsidies, but would support a 25% cut. According to the BBC, “the industry body, Renewable UK, says it may take legal action if the government makes a decision that overrides its own technical evidence.” Gordon Edge of Renewable UK, said, “it’s really important the process is seen to be evidence-based and rational. The government took technical guidance on this issue. If at this point the government says we are going to do less for onshore wind than it proposed that will be seen as nakedly political.” To read the entire article from the BBC News, link here: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
