CNN continues to suffer from TV ratings nightmares, while it expands more coverage for TV news anchor, Wolf Blitzer. CNN remains loyal to the Wolf-man despite the fact that he’s howling away many TV viewers.
According to Politico, “CNN is pulling the plug on its 6 p.m. news program ‘John King, USA,’ with the show’s host becoming the network’s national campaign correspondent.”
As disclosed by an internal memo that circulated Wednesday, Wolf Blitzer’s ‘Situation Room’ would be expanded to a three-hour program. It will start airing from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. next month. King would be expected to contribute to the program along with others including ‘AC360’ hosted by Anderson Cooper.
As reported by Politico, “the network, which has been plagued with a historically low viewership in recent months, also announced other personnel decisions as part of its move to expand its Washington coverage.”
CNN suffered its worst monthly prime-time ratings last month in over 20 years. The TV network just averaged 389,000 prime-time viewers between April 30 and May 27 – plummeting 51 percent from May of last year.
