Now that the Houston Chronicle hired a former San Francisco managing editor as its editor-in-chief of the newspaper, it has engaged in disturbing and wretched insults against the city of Dallas. One of its attacks claims that residents of the “Big D” should be considered Oklahomans.
As any native Texan knows that being called an Oklahoman would be deemed the worst insult that anybody could unload on a proud Texan. So it’s time the Dallas Blog discuss some negative traits about H-Town. Let’s begin with the weather and the lack of seasons in Houston. It’s so hot and humid in the city that even in December, you will sweat profusely after a five-minute walk on the streets of one of America’s most polluted cities. By the way, did Houston get labeled as the world’s fattest city for five years in a row, or was that it’s sister city, New Orleans? 100 years ago, Chicago politics earned notoriety for bringing a corrupt Democratic political machine in the city. Bill White, a Democrat, tried to bring the same system to Houston when he was mayor of the city. He was so successful that he won his re-election bid in a landslide. Yes, the Big D has a reputation for perhaps a somewhat rambunctious nightlife scene, but that’s better than Houston’s is any bar open after midnight mentality? Dallas does have a few negative traits. Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins, a Democrat, supports ‘hug-a-thug’ prosecution methods, but the Houston boasts of itself as a “sanctuary city” for Mexican mafia gangsters.
