What’s more dangerous to the environment than gas-guzzling SUVs? Apparently, the answer would be electric cars and other alternative fuel vehicles supported by President Barack Obama’s Green Energy Plan, according to an environmentalist professor from UC-Berkeley.
According to the Houston Chronicle, “car manufacturers are marketing new electric and hybrid vehicles as clean, cheaper alternatives to conventional gas-powered vehicles, but those vehicles could be nothing more than a green mirage, according to a new book.” Ozzie Zehner had written ‘Green Illusions” that explores the impact of electric and hybrid vehicles on the environmental and contends the vehicles are not as green friendly as advertised. As reported by the Houston Chronicle, “electric cars have struggled to gain an audience of the past few years because of the higher costs and uncertainty over the driving range. The market for hybrids, however has been growing as gasoline prices continue to rise.” Zehner said, “shifting from gasoline to electric vehicles is like switching a smoking habit from cloves to menthols. It isn’t acceptable for doctors to promote menthol cigarettes – should environmentally minded people promote alternative fuel cars?” To read the entire article from the Houston Chronicle, link here: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
