Amnesty Demands UN Courts Protect Terrorists Print E-mail
by Tom McGregor    Tue, Apr 17, 2012, 08:04 PM
Amnesty, a human rights group, is demanding that United Nations World Courts conduct trials against militant Islamic terrorists, to protect them from facing the death penalty. They insist that terrorists deserve UN-style human rights too.

The Daily Mail of London reports that, “the International Criminal Court (ICC) had been insisting that Saif al0Islam Gaddafi must be handed over to the Hague to face justice. The 39-year-old faces trial for killing, torturing and persecuting civilians in the early days of last year’s uprising.”

Human rights groups contend that the Libyan justice system remains incapable of dealing with such a high-profile case. Earlier this month Amnesty International said that an unfair trial in Libya would go against “justice and accountability.”

According to the Mail, “Saif al-Islam was arrested in November in Libya’s southern desert while trying to flee to Niger. Since then, he has been held at a secret location in Zintan, western Libya.”
