Motorists in the United Kingdom are in panic mode over an upcoming strike by militant tanker drivers. The ‘Gas Spring’ in the UK is causing drivers to wait in long lines to fill up their tanks.
The Daily Mail of London reports that, “motorists started to panic-buy fuel yesterday as government officials warned them to prepare for a rolling national strike by militant tank drivers.
The upcoming labor strike that is expected to begin in around ten days to coincide with the Easter holidays – was top of the agenda at a National Security meeting chaired by British Prime Minister David Cameron.
According to the Mail, “sources urged drivers not to hoard gas, but said they should take ‘prudent’ steps to ensure they have a full tank over the next week or so. When asked if the government would advise drivers to fill up, Downing Street’s official spokesman said: ‘People will draw their own conclusions.’”
The Labor Party is supporting the strike conducted by militant tank drivers, even if it continues on through the upcoming 2012 London Olympics.
