Register now and mark your calendars for Friday, November 11!
Join us at the 3rd Annual Texas Hold’em Tournament on November 11, 2011 at the Gleneagles Country Club in Plano benefitting Alport Syndrome Hope for the Cure Foundation. Proceeds fund much needed research for children with Alport Syndrome and other chronic kidney diseases.
In addition to helping Children’s Medical Center, the Foundation’s goal is to raise funds to host a scientific research symposium in the next few years. In the past two years, the Foundation donated over $26,000 to the Hemodialysis Unit at Children’s Medical Center Dallas to help fund state of the art medical equipment and have sent 15 children on dialysis to Camp Reynal.
Alport Syndrome is a rare kidney disease that causes progressive kidney damage. The disease is more damaging to boys and all boys with Alport Syndrome will eventually develop end stage renal failure (ESRD). Most boys will require dialysis and a transplant during their early adolescent years. Currently, there is no specific treatment or cure for Alport Syndrome.
Foundation founders Jodi and Jeff De Serrano’s 4-year old son, Dylan, was diagnosed with Alport Syndrome at age 2 and is one of the youngest to be diagnosed. “It is our goal to help find a cure before he faces the difficult effects of this disease as so many others are facing now,” Jodi said.
Last year’s tournament was a wonderful success, selling out with over 130 players. There will be blackjack tables, raffle prizes and a silent auction. Doors will open at 6:00 pm for registration, hors d’ oeuvres and a cash bar.
The tournament is open to anyone over 21 years of age and spouses are encouraged to join in the fun.
Some of the prizes include American Airlines Center Suite for 18 people to a Stars Game, 60’ flat screen TV, 3 night stay in a Penthouse Suite at The Las Vegas Hilton, Suite to a Rangers game, 2 night stay with dinner at the Horseshoe Casino & Hotel in Bossier City, iPad 2, Cascades golf stay and play package, Set of custom fitted Irons from Adam’s Golf, 5 Lap Thrill Ride at the Texas Motor Speedway, private wine tasting party for 10 at Times Ten Cellars and more!
Join us at the event so the De Serranos and the entire board of directors can thank you personally for your support. The children affected by Alport Syndrome and other chronic kidney disease will benefit tremendously from your generosity. For more information visit www.hopeforthecure.org

that is wonderful that you are having a fund raiser for Alports, but I do have one comment. Girls can and are also affected by the disease. My daughter had a transplant at age 23. I believe more girls are affected than was originally thought.
