Amidst Obama Depression, President Plays Golf Print E-mail
by Tom McGregor    Fri, Aug 5, 2011, 09:16 PM

President Barack Obama, a Democrat, enjoys spending time on the golf course on Andrews Air Force Base, which is nearby Camp David. Regardless of circumstances, Obama loves to play golf. The U.S. stock exchanges are plunging and the S&P has just downgraded the credit rating of United States federal government debt. So, how does the President respond to recent developments of the Obama Depression? He plays golf.

Politico reports that, “President Obama has left the White House for Camp David. The pool reports Obama left the West Wing around 3:40 p.m., waving to a crowd as he boarded his helicopter. Valeries, Jarret, Reggie Love and Pete Souza are tagging along.”

On his birthday, Obama had a BBQ cookout on the White House patio.

Is anyone surprised Obama griddled while Rome burned its credit rating?

And, now, he's taking another weekend off to play golf and play with his special friends as America's credit rating is downgraded for the first time in history.

What a sorry excuse for a 'leader'.

nice to know that as the USA went down the drain. it did not interrupt his weekend plans. the dicator in chief needs his rest!

obama is the worst president in american history. obama couldn't carry President George W. Bush's jock strap.

The statement "spending time on the golf course on Andrews Air Force Base, which is nearby Camp David." is somewhat incorrect. How near is near? Andrews AFB is east of DC while Camp David is in Catoctin National Park which is west of Thermont, MD almost at the PA/MD state line.

There is something wrong in his head.

The optics of this are terrible but he's got the media covering for him.

Bush sent our troops to die in two unnecessary wars, then took several much needed vacations.

If you are going to criticize the Commander in Chief, don't be so blatantly partison.

Did he take a fiddle too, or is that too on the nose for President Nero?

We as Americans got what we deserved in electing the current occupant of the White House.

Those peas taste terrible don't they?

Betcha we either re-elect him or just another guy who tells us what we want to hear, just like we always have.

When did they move Andrews Air Force Base to "nearby Camp David?"
or, was it the other way around?

Your grade in Geography for the term is F.

This article states President Obama went to play golf at 3:40 p.m. on Friday afternoon. Furthermore, the S&P report cites the Republican Party's unwillingness to raise government revenues as the reason our nation's credit rating was downgraded.

http://www.ft.com/intl/cms/af2c4fac-bfc2-11e0-90d5-00144feabdc0.pdf

Considering the Republicans would not have met with the President that late on a Friday to discuss raising taxes on the top 5% of income earners and tax dodging corporations, this criticism is merely contrived nonsense rationalized as another false reason to lay blame on the President. Instead of exerting all this mental energy for wrong reasons, deal with the fact the S&P report blames Republican economic policies for this credit downgrading.

Since when is Camp David near Andrews AFB?

I beg to differ.
If he's not in Washington, he's not screwing things up.

Time to ask hi a simple question: "Mr. President, would you pee in this little cup to assure us you have not fallen back into the admitted habits of your youth. Because your detachment from reality is really hard to explain otherwise."

Yes, because we really want the leader of the free world, who is under unbelievable stress, constantly working 90 hour weeks to the point of mental breakdown.

Bush spent a huge chunk of his presidency at his ranch, and I tried not to criticize him for that, despite the fact that I strongly disagreed with his policies.

The president is constantly on call, and probably works harder than 99% of Americans (and certainly harder than congress). If he wants to play a game of golf on the weekend, let him play, because it's right back to work after that.

And what would have changed or been accomplished if he stayed in the WH and read a book instead? All of Congress is on vacation for the next 5 weeks.I don't see any of them volunteering to stay in Washington and actually do something for the country. You complainers would find something to whine about no matter what the President did.

This president lives in his own fantasy world of "greatness". Bollywood and the elitists have him believing he is infallible. I would be embarrassed if I were him, but he is too much of a narcissist to realize he should be.

There's plenty to blame Obama for other than his golfing,

...
written by GABuckeye , August 08, 2011

@Rational Response:

S&P actually downgraded based on two things - failure to reduce spending (particularly in the entitlements area) and raising revenues. Here's a synopsis from S&P:

"We lowered our long-term rating on the U.S. because we believe that the
prolonged controversy over raising the statutory debt ceiling and the related
fiscal policy debate indicate that further near-term progress containing the
growth in public spending, especially on entitlements, or on reaching an
agreement on raising revenues is less likely than we previously assumed and
will remain a contentious and fitful process. We also believe that the fiscal
consolidation plan that Congress and the Administration agreed to this week
falls short of the amount that we believe is necessary to stabilize the
general government debt burden by the middle of the decade."

Nowhere does it say the "Republicans" are at fault. Looks like S&P thinks ALL are at fault.

Pleas don't be so negative! For the first time in his life, he can afford to play the "rich mans" game! Of COURSE it's on OUR DIME, but whos counting! Presidents play GOLF! He REALLY wants to ACT like a PRESIDENT without actually DOING anything! Except play golf!

Obamby is exactly who the fascist Reps wanted, a water boy who would fade the heat while they rob the Treasury. If I were him, knowing you neo nazis could whack him at any time he stopped tap dancing, I might do the same. Remember JFK, RFK & MLK. Geoge II didn't have a jock, he was a punk jocksniffer like you wannabes.

President Bush stopped playing golf after the start of the war in Iraq. He was quoted at the time as indicating he didn't want an American soldier to die and have that soldier's parents or friends see images of the president - golfing.

22 Navy SEALs die and Obama is OK with the imagery of him golfing.

Compare and contrast.

Ironic that the myopic concentrate on where he plays golf instead of the real issue of him not building American confidence...plus the idiot who accused GWB of golfing...he quit when the wars started out of respect..you know RESPECT, something Obama has no clue about.

A pox on both political parties for the long, slow destruction of our nation. Neither has the any perceived intent to adhere to their oath upon taking office and to the 10th Amendment.

We are now embroiled in a great civil uprising by former civil servants, now wearing the colors of communism via the SEIU, NEA, and Teacher's Unions, and the paucity of true individual statemen within our Representative Democracy; occupying the seats of the people's power, now wrested away from their paymasters into their personal centers of power: the Senate and Congress.

History teaches us that republic grow to nation-states that die and fail within. The average time frame being ~200 years.

Obama is an imposter that is basking in the fact that he, in fact, has "fundamentally changed" the U.S.

The question is: when will the citizenry revolt? How?
