'Slick Willie' the Opera Hits Broadway PDF Print E-mail
by Tom McGregor    Mon, Jun 20, 2011, 03:46 AM

Broadway Clinton.jpgThis weekend, a folk opera based on a day in the life of former U.S. president Bill Clinton makes its debut on Broadway.

The BBC News reports that, “the opera entitled Billy Blythe is the creation of Bonnie Montgomery, who worked on the show with her partner Britt Barber.”

On Sunday and Monday, the opera will be performed by the Metropolis Opera Project at the Medicine Show Theater.

Zach James, director of Metropolis, said, “it was very clear that it was an astonishingly beautiful piece.

According to the BBC, “the name of the show comes from the name of Bill Clinton’s father, Bill Blythe, who died three months before the future U.S. president was born.”

Later, Mr. Clinton took the surname of Roger Clinton, his stepfather.
