Whatever happened to has-been pop star, Vanilla-Ice, who in 1989 was famous for just one pop tune, “Ice Ice Baby,” but lost his fame and fortune after the media exposed the self-proclaimed Anglo-Saxon Gangsta Rapper from Miami, Florida was actually a rich kid raised in a wealthy suburb of Dallas in Plano, Tx.? Well, he still has a loyal fan club in Plano and he’s returning to Hollywood to star in an Adam Sandler comedy flick.
The Daily Mail of London reports that, “he is still best known for his hit Ice Ice Baby, which packed dance floors back in 1989. But Vanilla Ice is planning his come back – in a multi-million (dollar) Hollywood movie.”
The retro rapper is expected to appear in Adam Sandler’s upcoming comedy, I hate You Dad. His loyal fans from Plano hope that they’re one-hit wonder hero will follow in the footsteps of fellow former pop star Marky Mark, now transformed into an Oscar-nominated actor Mark Wahlberg.
According to the Daily Mail, “Vanilla Ice, whose real name is Robert Van Winkle, will play an old friend of Sandler’s character. The rapper, 43, has remained in the music business, releasing a series of poorly-received albums over the past two decades. But none has repeated the success of his early work.”
Leighton Meester, Gossip Girl star, is set to play Sandler’s future daughter-in-law and Andy Samberg, a comedian, co-stars in the film that finds Sandler playing a father who moves in with his son and his fiancée, only to begin immediately feuding with the bride-to-be.

Yes, his music career fizzled out, he descended into drug addiction and homelessness, has recovered and is now doing home improvement shows and has a movie coming out.
Is this a problem, somehow?

Austin: This was not an attempt to ridicule the man for being homeless and recovering drug addict. Actually, it was an effort to bring publicity to someone who overcame all odds to regain fame, but I wrote it in a humurous light. I'm a strong believer in bouncing back from struggles and remaining persistent in pursuing your dreams even if the world says you're being foolish.
