Tampa Bay-area cops say that an ice cream driver was driving his truck while intoxicated and nearly struck a child. On Monday afternoon, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office disclosed that 49-year-old Ronald Clifford Purdy was pulled over after someone dialed 911 to report his driving.
According to the Houston Chronicle, “Deputies say Purdy staggered out of the ice cream truck in New Port Richey and gave his birthday when he asked for his address. The deputies also reported finding two open bottles of whiskey.”
The police report lists Purdy’s blood alcohol content at 0.227 percent, which is nearly three times the legal limit for drivers.
Purdy is being charged with DUI and was released on his own recognizance.
