So You Think You Can Ball? D-League Legends To Host Open Tryouts Print E-mail
by Mike Fisher    Mon, Aug 23, 2010, 12:39 pm

The Legends tryouts will give prospective players the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of Nelson, coach Nancy Lieberman, President of Basketball Operations Spud Webb, and GM Del Harris.  Participants will compete to earn an invitation to the team’s training camp, which will begin in early November.

Additionally, the tryouts will feature scouts from leagues in China, France, Angola, Lithuania, Germany and Belgium.  Video clips of the tryouts will also be placed on the internet for prospective players to send to teams both domestically and internationally.

“In my mind, the ‘D’ in ‘D-League’ stands for dreams, and this is an opportunity for players to have their professional dreams come true,” Nelson said.  “Scouts from the Mavericks and Legends and all over the world will be able to evaluate and potentially give opportunities for these young athletes to play domestically or internationally.  We’re excited to provide this opportunity to our young athletes looking for a chance to show the pros their stuff.’’

Applicants can pre-register by submitting the official registration, disclosure and release forms, in addition to a NBA D-League mandated $100 non-refundable fee, by September 8, 2010. The fee for day of registration will be $150.  Pre-registration payments may be made by money order, cashier’s check, cash, or via credit card.  Day of registration payments must be made by money order, cashier’s check, or cash.   Application forms are available at the Legends website.  For additional information on the tryouts, please contact Assistant Coach Scott Flemming at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
