|Obama Forces Helen Thomas to Retire|

President Barack Obama is not a big fan of White House columnist Helen Thomas, so he leaped at an opportunity to kick her out of the press room, when she criticized the Israeli Jewish state.
ABC News reports that, "Helen Thomas (89), veteran columnist for Hearst Newspapers, announced her resignation today right after the White House condemned her remarks as 'offensive' and 'reprehensible.'"
Thomas caused international upheaval with her recent comments that Jews should "get the hell out of Palestine" and "go home" to Germany, Poland, America, and "everywhere else."
At the daily briefing today, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs, said, "I think she should and has apologized. Obviously those remarks do not reflect, certainly, the opinion of, most of the people in here, and certainly not of the administration."
Since Thomas made the remark in a May 27 interview with RabbiLive.com, fellow columnists and former U.S. officials had demanded her suspension from the White House briefings, where she sits at the front row center seat due to her long-standing services as a reporter. She has been covering every president since John F. Kennedy.
Today, Thomas' seat in the briefing room was empty, because she did not attend the daily briefings as calls for Thomas to lose her special seat in the briefing room continued.
According to ABC, "on Sunday, former Clinton special counsel and spokesman Lanny J. Davis became the most recent former U.S. official to call on the White House to suspend Thomas' privileges in the White House press room, and for Hearst to consider a similar suspension of her position as a nationally syndicated columnist."
Ms. Thomas is paying a heavy price for her regrettable remark. She's been forced to resign, kicked out of the White House, dropped from high-paying speaking engagements. Perhaps, the Muslim-American community will come to her rescue.
