May 16: Taste of the Nation's Share Our Strength Print E-mail
by Sharon Adams    Tue, May 11, 2010, 04:20 pm

BlytheBeck.jpgOn May 16, 2010, Chef Blythe Beck, executive chef of Central 214 and star of the Oxygen reality show, The Naughty Kitchen with Chef Blythe Beck, (pictured left) plays host to Share our Strength’s Taste of the Nation Dallas.

Twenty of the cities finest chefs will unite for an intimate, gastronomic seated event to end childhood hunger in North Texas. Each table of ten will be assigned one fabulous chef for an evening that included four courses with wine pairings.

The event dishes up at Hotel Palomar and includes a premium cocktail reception and luxury gift for each guest. This special evening is rounded out with fabulous entertainment and an exceptional silent and live auction featuring one-of-a-kind trips, wine, culinary experiences and more.

Host Chef: Blythe Beck
Honorary Chef: Stephan Pyles
Event Chair: Terri Provencal
Share our Strength’s National Culinary Councilman: John Tesar

WebPhoto_2.jpgWhile there are many food and wine events, Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation is the only one of its kind where 100% of the ticket proceeds go directly to benefit the fight to end childhood hunger and are distributed locally.

Thanks to the generous support of the Dallas restaurant community, the 2009 event raised close to $90,000 for local, state and international grant recipients at last year’s event. This year, the events will impact three local groups, The North Texas Food Bank, The Wilkinson Center and the Center for Public Policy Priorities, all of whom are leading the effort to end childhood hunger in North Texas and America.

Since Share Our Strength’s inception, Taste of the Nation events have been the premier restaurant industry benefit, providing the perfect opportunity for chefs and restaurateurs to showcase their cuisine while supporting a very important cause.

The connection between the restaurant industry and the fight against childhood hunger is a natural one.
