|Israel Threatens Nov. Attack on Iran|

Former Deputy Defense Minister Brig. Gen. Ephraim Sneh announced on Wednesday in Tel Aviv that Israel will be compelled to attack Iran's nuclear weapons facilities by this November unless the United States and its allies enact "crippling sanctions that will undermine the regime in Tehran."
According to NewsMax, "the sanctions currently being discussed with Russia, China and other major powers at the United Nations are likely to be a slightly-enhanced version of the U.N. sanctions already in place, which have had no impact on the Iranian regime."
President Barack Obama continues to resist attempts by Congress to impose mandatory sanctions on corporations selling refined petroleum products to Iran, despite the unanimous passage of the Iran Petroleum Sanctions Act in January.
Sneh contends that Iran will probably have "a nuclear bomb or two" by 2011, in an Op-Ed in the Israeli left-wing daily, Haaretz.
The Op-Ed is quoted as saying that, "an Israeli military campaign against Iran's nuclear installations is likely to cripple that country's nuclear project for a number of years. The retaliation against Israel would be painful, but bearable."
As reported by NewsMax, "Sneh believes that the 'acquisition of nuclear weapons by Iran during Obama's term would do him a great deal of political damage,' but that the damage resulting from an Israeli strike on Iran 'would be devastating.'"
Nonetheless, he had written, "for practical reasons, in the abscense of genuine sanctions, Israel will not be able to wait until the end of next winter, which means it would have to act around the congressional elections in November, thereby sealing Obama's fate as president."

Iran has signed Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). Iran has rejected atomic weapons and has called for a nuclear-free Middle East, demanding that nuclear weapon states eliminate their atomic arsenals in compliance with their NPT obligations. Time for Israel to do the same

The US and UN are working overtime to sanction Iran on suspicion that it is building nuclear bombs. Never mind that the US and UN have taken no action to stop Israel from making bomb threats against Iran, which is a violation of UN policy. Israel also has 200-300 nuclear bombs and this along with its bombs threats give Iran justification for building nuclear bombs, if it is indeed doing so. The US and UN have allowed Israel for the past 60 years to commit atrocities and warcrimes on its neighbors without penalty. It is time for the US and UN to reign in Israel unless they want the world to engage in WW3.

Nice bit of misleading hackery, Tom. The headline you chose states Israel threatens Iran. The actual article states that the threat comes from someone who is not a member of Israel's gov't. To top thngs off, your source is quoting an Op-Ed from anewspaper.

History repeats itself: nobody wants to believe that Israel will attack Iran. And when Israel actually does attack, they will be shocked.
Just as they were shocked in 1967.
