EPA Plans Rigid Regulations on Natural Gas PDF Print E-mail
by Tom McGregor    Fri, Mar 19, 2010, 01:06 PM
Administration Gas.jpgPresident Barack Obama is becoming more determined to push for "cap-and-trade" legislation to meet greenhouse gas emmissions' standards established by the United Nations. If he succeeds with the ObamaCare health care overhaul bill, it will be easier for him to sign the "cap-and-trade" bill into law. Since China already agreed to the UN Climate Change pact signed in Denmark last December, Mr. Obama feels he has no choice but to follow Beijing's lead, which would tremendously harm the U.S. economy.

The Houston Chronicle reports that, "the U.S. Encironmental Protection Agency says it will study potential human health and water quality threats from an oil and natural gas drilling technique that injects massive amounts of water, sand and chemicals underground."

Recognized as "fracking," hydraulic fracturing has become widely-utlized and unlocked extensive natural gas reserves, yet the technique has increased worries about environmental damage.

According to the Chronicle, "EPA said Thursday that its $1.9 million study, expected to be done by 2012, would look at the industry's effect on groundwater, surface water, human health and the environment more generally."

Drillers isist that the practice is safe, but fears have been rising that unregulated fracking will taint drinking water, siphon off too much surface, deplete aquifers and produce briny wastewater which can kill fish.

Silly me, but the Houston Chronicle article does not mention any planned regulations or Cap and Trade.

For the record, I am against Cap and Trade.

As to the issue that the Chronicle article actually discusses, I know that it seems crazy to those who want no regulations whatsoever (and I guess accept the unlimited right to pollute), but the purpose of regulations is not to stifle legitimate business activity, but to allow business to work effectively, with the understanding that there is simply little capitalistic business incentives for companies to self-police.

So, yes, the first step of regulation is the determination of whether there is a problem or not.

Under existing law, the agency must properly study this question and define if there is a problem and what the problem is.

If the oil and gas industry is correct that there are no issues with "Fracking," then the study will establish that, and no regulations will follow.

The Chronicle article does not mention any temporary halt to Fracking, which is close to legally impossible without any prior study.

So, if the oil companies are right, then what is the concern?

And if they are wrong, don't you want to know and fix it before they destroy the aquifer and all the agriculture and other businesses (and people even) that rely on a clean watershed?

The real reason that Comrade BAHAMA has to follow China is because he is nothing more than a tool and agent of the CHICOM : they own and control him "lock, stock, and barrel": and they are using him to their great delight and advantage to weaken and harm America. One of BAHAMA'S brothers lives [very well, too] in Red China.

BAHAMA is a traitor to America, and a sorry little communist, and is not loyal to America. He does not really like or respect America.

He also poses a real threat to liberty and freedom in America, and in the entire world. BAHAMA presents himself as a liberal, but he is something else, and it is something very dangerous.

Recall that Hitler started out posing as a sort of liberal : the NAZI party was, you might recall, the "national socialist" party. But when Hitler and his unprincipled and demonic goons had taken enough power to be able do so, they showed their true [and evil] character, and we all know what sorts of bad things they did and caused then.

Like Hitler and his goons, BAHAMA and his crew of unprincipled and evil followers are capable of lots of bad conduct also.

Awake, America, before it is too late.

God, please save us. Please save the seed of liberty. Please save the rights of man. Please help us to hold evil at bay.
