Air Force Pagans "Not Invited" to White House PDF Print E-mail
by Tom McGregor    Sat, Mar 13, 2010, 01:59 AM

Brandon Pagan.jpgIn a stunning rebuke to the pagan worshippers at the Air Force Academy, President Barack Obama and the First Lady Michelle Obama did not invite them to the eco-friendly White House Easter Egg Roll this year. Perhaps, the Air Force pagans do not participate in ceremonies to honor the environmental goddess of Mother Earth, which may explain the disinvitation.

In an e-mail response to the Dallas Blog, Pagan Priest Brandon Longcrier, who was featured in a Fox News article, had written, "No, we (the "pagan worshippers at the Air Force Academy") were not invited. Maybe next year ... and can we not get into whose holiday came first and where from? Christians have Easter, so let them have it and let them enjoy it for what it means to them. We have Ostara, which we celebrate at a different time and for a completely different reason. "Can't we all just get along?" ... Many Blessings to All ... Brandon Loncrier -"

Funny, Easter eggs were a Pagan thing to begin with..

Tom:

Please explain what exactly is Pagan about using environmentally friendly eggs?

(I mean, really, since Easter Eggs themselves have nothing to do with Jesus' resurrection in the first place!)

If we Christians are going to create fun games for our kids to help make the day of Jesus' resurrection fun to make them love Easter more, is there any scripturally reasons why we should use eggs that pollute the most?

Since when is being environmentally unfriendly a Christian doctrine?

Or am I just missing your sarcasm?

"Perhaps..."

Perhaps you could have spent a moment finding out before posting your suspicions. I admit that it would require an amount of inquisitiveness that conservatives don't possess unless it involves genitals.

For the record....I'm not a "Priest" and I we didn't expect to be invited to the White House. There are Pagans much higher up than me that I'd hope would be invited before I was. But I wouldn't turn it down of course. :O)

Brandon: Thanks for your comments on this important issue in regards to the White House Easter Egg Roll. If you or your Ostara pagan buddies are ever in Dallas, please feel free to contact me. A face-to-face interview would make for a great story. Hopefully, you'll conduct a ceremony. I would be anxious to see what outfits you folks will be wearing.

Funny thing is,when a jet pilot sees an emergency light come on such as a "Fire Warning" or "Oil Pressure Failure" he or she pushes the "JC Button" and says a prayer to God & Jesus Christ.

John K:

Two interesting items:

Not once in the 7 times that I almost died while flying naval aircraft did I ever have the time or presence to say a prayer. When flying, death is a constant potential that is overcome by good habits and better training. Prayer comes before and after, not during.

However, please note that this does not mean flying is an aspiritual matter. Specifically, when I was in Training Command, I almost failed due to extreme airsickness during Dogfights. I was ordered to the Flight Surgeon, who looking at my medical records asked me if my religion (Southern Baptist at the time) was real or not. When I said it was very real, he asked if I believed in prayer. When I said I did, he said, "good, flyers who use 'prayer plus physiology' are twice as likely to overcome airsickness as those who only use physiology.

After that, before flying I would always eat Peanut Butter on bread (absorbs stomach acid when dogfighting), would always prayer before dogfighting, and would always internally being singing a war hymn while dogfighting (Onward Christian Soldiers).

To say the least, I never got airsick again during another 600 hours in naval aircraft.

Not sure what your point is about the eggs, Shad, but actually they have been a symbol of the Resurrection for centuries. The chick is entombed and breaks out into life.

I'm glad peanut butter worked for you--I wouldn't recommend at high altitude, though. Gas producing. One decompression and you're a major source of "climate change."

I learned this during the 7.358 times I almost died in bombers.

What outfits they'd be wearing? Probably jeans and a t-shirt, just like everyone else. Being a white, female, 47-year-old suburban mother of a high school kid, I get mistaken for a Christian all the time. Doesn't bother me, I'm not offended. My home altar probably looks like a knick-knack shelf. I don't wander around outside chanting nekkid; I don't wear flowing flowered skirts and fairie wings. My prayers are between me, my ancestors, and the Gods. If someone asks, I've got no problem stating my beliefs.

I would compare the popular "fluffy bunny" image that many Christians have of pagans to the image that street corner preachers and campus evangelizers give to Christians. There are attention-getters in every faith.
