Karl Rove Shows 'Sympathy' for Rahm Emanuel PDF Print E-mail
by Tom McGregor    Thu, Mar 11, 2010, 01:04 PM
Armitage Rove.jpgPerhaps, Karl Rove, the chief political strategist of former President George W. Bush, never faced a shower confrontation with White House Chief-of-Staff Rahm Emanuel, the alleged 'nude verbal-abuser.' Conseequently, he has expressed remarkable sympathy for the Democrtatic operative and fellow aides to Presdent Barack Obama, who have been barraged by a harsh round of scrutiny of the West Wing's inner workings.

Nonetheless, he offers a harsh judgement upon the White House legislative strategy and claimed the president may be vulnerable to a Republican upset in his 2012 re-election bid.

Politico quotes Rove as saying that, "I don't think it was as good as it was (portrayed) in the beginning, and I don't think it's as bad as it is today, but it is bad .. I have a certain sympathy for (them because of) the criticism. There's been a lot of attention paid to ... warfare ostensibly between David Axelrod and Rahm Emanuel. There is a tendency by the press to overplay that, and so I have a little sympathy for them on that. But I do think the press has got it right, that the administration has a disengaged, aloof president who has not set the tone with regard to legislation."

Asked whether the CIA-leak prosecutor, Patrick Fitzgerald, engaged in misconduct by continuing to target him after investigators were informed that the columnist, the late-Robert Novak's source had been Richard Armitage, a State Department official, Rove responded, "misconduct implies a violation of the rules, and I'm not enough of a lawyer .. It took too long, and it was unfair. I think, yeah."

Rove sympathy for Emmanuel? Not surprised. They're both two of a kind -- mistakes that never should have happened.
