Gun-Control Activists Seek 'Nerf' Guns Ban PDF Print E-mail
by Tom McGregor    Mon, Feb 15, 2010, 11:36 AM

2nd Nerf.bmpThe Second Amendment faces the grave danger of going into extinction as powerful gun-control activists engage in a legal battle to ban 'Nerf' guns from public-settings.

The Washington Times reports that, "it was a rough week for gun rights in colorado. First, Colorado State University voted to ban concealed firearms on campus. Then, the University of Colrado went a few steps further and cracked down on another nefarious threat: Nerf guns."

University campus security officials banned students' plans for a 'human vs. zombies' game, since the players wanted to utilize the poular orange-and-green toy weaponry. The University of Colorado has already banned simulated guns, which include those that shoot spongy Nerf balls.

A nationwide craze on college campuses, the game involves 'zombie' students trying to eliminate 'human' students by socking them with Nerf balls or socks. The moment a 'human' has been tagged, he becomes a zombie and is forced to wear a bandana around his head.

According to the Washington Times, "humans can stun zombies for 15 minutes by tagging them with a Nerf ball or sock. Zombies must hit at least one human every 48 hours or 'starve.' The game end when all the humans have been turned into zombies or all the zombies have been starved, which can take days."

Bronson Hilliard, CU spokesman, said students fully-coopoerated by replacing the Nerf guns with balled-up socks and even supporting the program by posting fliers in the dormitories warning players to keep their Nerfs at home. The game began on Dec. 1 and finished a couple of days later.
